Top sleep tips to help you discover a good night’s sleep

Are you waking up tired? Well you’re not alone! So many of us suffer from inadequate sleep, and are waking up tired, sore and low on energy. Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for good health and well-being and leads to improved happiness.

At Harvey Norman we love sleep, and to help you achieve a better night’s sleep we have put together our top sleep tips to help you wake up feeling refreshed:

  1. GET MOVING

Light exercise of at least 20 minutes a day will help burn off any excess energy.

  1. RELAX AND UNWIND

Have a warm bath or shower before bed to unwind.

  1. DINNER TIME

Eat your evening meal at least 2 hours before bedtime.

  1. SWITCH OFF

Turn off all your electronic devices at least an hour before bedtime.

  1. KEEP COOL

Keep your bedroom at a comfortable temperature between 18°C and 22°C.

  1. LIGHTS DOWN LOW

A dark, quiet room is crucial for good quality sleep.

  1. SET A ROUTINE

Try to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day.

  1. FIND YOUR COMFORT

On average we spend one third of our lives in bed, so having a comfortable and supportive bed is crucial for healthy sleep. But how do we know if our bed is right for us?

Take this quick quiz to find out if it’s time for you to get a new bed:

  • Is your bed over ten years old?
  • Are you waking up with a sore body?
  • Does your partner’s sleeping pattern disrupt your sleep?
  • Is heat an issue for you when you sleep?
  • Do you and your partner like a different firmness or softness in your mattress?
  • Do you suffer from dust mite or other airborne allergies?

If you have answered ‘Yes’ to any of the above questions, then it’s definitely time for a new bed. To find out more, visit your local Harvey Norman store and talk to one of our sleep specialists today.
