- When is Windows 11 available?
Windows 11* is available from the 5th October. Devices that meet the system requirements will be eligible for an upgrade by mid-2022.
- How do you know if your device is eligible?
You can check the Windows 11 minimum specification requirements here to see if your device is eligible. Eligibility is determined by hardware, reliability metrics, age of your device and additional factors. You can also check your device using Microsoft’s PC health check tool.
- How can I tell when my device will be updated?
Windows 10 will let you know when the update is available, but you can also check in Settings> Windows Update and select Check for Updates.
- Is Windows 11 free?
Yes! Windows 11 is a free upgrade available for all eligible devices.

- New design and layout
Built to provide a calm and creative space, the new design and layout helps you think, express and create in a natural way. The start menu has been relocated to the centre of the screen and is now “cloud powered” so it dynamically changes depending on the time, content and programs you’re working with.
- Maximised Productivity
Microsoft has introduced snap layouts, groups and desktops to optimise your screen and multitasking abilities. The new snap layers, you can arrange multiple windows across the screen in columns, sections and more, rather then just side by side. Snap Groups let you return to previously snapped windows from the doc, without having to snap them back to the previous view.
- Connectivity
Teams is now integrated into the taskbar, so you can connect instantly. Windows 11* has also been optimised for speed, efficiency and an improved experience when using touch, digital pen and voice input.
- Curated Content
The new design incorporates AI powered widgets that provide a personalised feed and lets you access information relevant to you quickly.
- Microsoft Store
Featuring a new design and rebuilt to make it easier to find your favourite apps, games, shows and movies in one space. Microsoft has also teamed up with Amazon and Intel to offer android apps on the Microsoft Store.
